In collaboration with the Afrofuturism Conference at the New School, the Afrofuturism Film Festival explored the virality of blackness with a cutting-edge mix of artists, and scholars exploring how Afrofuturism relates to the liberation of black people.
Curated by Jazmin Jones & Yeelen Cohen under the theme of "Black is Viral", the 3-day event showcased more than 20 features and short films. Additionally, the festival hosted a networking mixer for filmmakers of color and erected a video installation titled "By Any Memes Necessary." More than 2,000 people attended the student-led conference and film festival.
